IE occasionaly will not load webpages even if connection is good

I have been having an on again/off again problem loading webpages with IE (ver 6.0.2800.1106). I am contected to the net through a dialup and can use putty, or any of the other programs that access the net with no problems even when IE cannot access anything.

If the problem does not start when I get connected it will occur while surfing. I will suddenly get "Page cannot be displayed" and then from that point on I cannot surf unless I shutdown IE and open it again <several times>.

I have tried using Adaware, and Spybot S&D, as well as deleteing old History and Cookie Index.dat files as per the MS support (believeing they were corrupted). I have also uninstalled IE and reinstalled. I have called my phone company to make sure that there was not any line problems, and I have talked to my ISP.
the problem only comes up in IE

Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.

I am seeing something simiar. My sitaution is that there
are a few sites I have not been able to reach in the past
3-4 days. I initially though this to be a network issue
and talked to the isp (Verizon) but they keep telling me
its a secure web site issues, to reconfigure IE, check
the latest patches.

I can reach a few sites without fail -

Anyone have any ideas on what I should try?

I have tried deleting the TIF and History folders for both Profiles, and reseting the Cashe on both to 50 mb. Unfortantly this only fixes the problem for few moments.
Is there anything else that I can try

Thanks agai
William
