Hi:

Thanks to whoever posted the solution to my problem. I
can't seem to find your post now or I would mention you by
name.
The problem was that IE would not load and would only send
error reports to Microsoft.

The solution was as follows:

Go the the website http://00hq.com/. Go to the bottom of
the page and click the link to "uninstall winshow popups".
It was as simple as that! (Looks like folks have found yet
another security hole in IE to exploit!) Thanks again.

Your suggestion raises 2 questions:
1.If you could not launch IE how you arrived to this page? (OK, may be you
have another
browser but most of people have not)
2.How do you know that it is a safe link (uninstall)?

however if i can't open a browser, how can i fix it? (i'm
working on my computer -- the problem is on my son's)

If IE wouldn't load where do you type in the web address
for your solution? Thanks.

Judi,

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." If that allows IE to run, then search for and remove
malware:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Or you can visit http://00hq.com/ if winshow is your problem.
CWShredder will also remove winshow http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html

You can re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

If unsuccessful, post back to this thread.
