IE not connecting

Recently I ran Ad-aware to remove spyware from my computer.
Since then, IE is not able to access internet ( get "page
cannot be displayed" message). I use IE6 on Win2K
professional. Tried uninstall/install of IE. MSN messenger
is able to connect while Yahoo messenger is not. Netscape
is able to connect as well. Does this mean my winsock is
corrupted.? How can I reinstall that?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the problem is truly related to corruption of Winsock, this tool
may help:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

This could also be a host or dns hijack. Search your entire hard
drive, including hidden and system folders, for "hosts".

In addition to Ad-Aware, get HijackThis and Spybot S&D (both free),
and advice from SWI Forums. Start with this article, which contains
