After SP2 and GDI+Detection Tool, IE has slowed
in loading to over a minute, plus other
peculiarities. What is the best way to reinstall
it? Current version is 6.0.2900.218 xpsp_sp2 rtm
640803-2158.

sfc requires the install cd with files from the dll.cache. My install cd
comes from toshiba and sfc cannot find the dll.cache. Any other way of
running sfc or fixing IE?

Hi

Have a look in Windows Explorer for a folder named i386. If found, point
that when asked for the CD.

Hi

See if this helps:

"How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318378

This link is only helpful if SP2 will reinstall over itself. Nothing
about reinstalling is mentioned in the above link or links contained
therein.

sfc in xp2 only hunts for the Win XP setup cd,
and does not give me a browse/point choice.
Since Toshiba has posted that they will support
the sp2 update for their computers that came XP
installed, I'll be giving them a friendly call.

Thanks for the hint.

The only XP SP2 "media" I have is the honker
272MB professional installer/updater file. It
was transfered to CD,but Windows rejects it as
being the wrong disk.
