IE instance is not shown in 'Processes' tab of 'Windows Task Manag

Hi,

I am using Windows XP SP2 with IE 6 SP1.

If I login as USER1 and open an IE browser, I get 'about:blank - Microsoft
Internet Explorer' in Applications tab of Windows Task Manager. But, there is
no process is shown as 'iexplore.exe' in Processes tab.

In the same system, if I login as USER2, I can see the 'iexplore.exe' in
process tab. At the same time, if I switch to USER1 and select "Show
processes from all users" check box in the processes tab, I am able to see
the "iexplore.exe" process for the USER2 but not for the USER1.

I have done the latest update (from control panel), but still this problem
exists.

I am using some web based applications which will download some ocx files.
After logging out from my application and closing IE, and if I try to open it
once again, it says the previous instance was not cleaned properly. For this
reason, I have checked IE in windows task manager and found the above
problem.

NOTE: If I use USER2 or USER3 login on the same machine, the application is
always working fine. This problem occurs only for the USER1 profile(first
user) I created during the installation of Windows XP. All the USERS are
having Administrator privilege.

Can anybody help me to resolve this problem ? Do I need to enable/disable
any options in user profile or do I need to install some fixes ???

Thanks in advance,
Muthu

It's probably being run by explorer.exe

What happens if USER1 runs iexplore.exe explicitly
or opens a new IE window?

There is no iexplore.exe instance in 'Processes' tab when USER1 runs
iexplore.exe explicitly or opens a new IE window.

Try using Process Explorer (freeware from SysInternals)
to find out where it is then. It must be under explorer.exe
or you may have other problems in that profile. <eg>

Good luck
