I hope this is the right group for this. Is there any way to change the icon for IE 6? I'm running IE 6 on windows XP. I installed a XP theme then removed it. It change the IE icon and I don't know how to change it back to the blue E

Thanks

If you're referring to the Internet Explorer icon in the Desktop, try this:

Click Start, Run and type this command:

regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

Thanks, yet that did not do it for me. I still have a folder icon instead of
the E icon. Thanks for the site thou, it gave me a answer to another
question I had.

Open Registry Editor and navigate to these locations and Export each to
separate REG files.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}

Post the contents or attach the the REG file here. These two are the places
where the IE defaulticon can be set.

Correction:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}
Not
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}
