IE History not working

Glenn

Anybody know why IE History would not work? The View By Most Visited
contains pages, but the other three views (By Date, By Site, By Order
Visited Today) are all empty. The word "Today" does not even show up under
By Date. I have set IE to keep 15 days of history, so there should be
something there. Any ideas? (Message also posted on IE newsgroup)

I have the same problem. In addition to this the only thing being retained in my Tep internet files are cookies, and I have set the temp internet file size to mire than 1000meg. I have not changed any settings.

Unfortunately, it didn't fix my problem. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

The following is the a better description of the original problem I reported
(copied from the IE newsgroup).

"My IE History doesn't work anymore under one of my user accounts. My other
account works fine. Both accounts are set up as administrators.

"The View By Most Visited contains pages, but the other three views (By
Date, By Site, By Order Visited Today) are all empty. The word "Today" does
not even show up under By Date. I have set IE to keep 15 days of history, so
there should be something there. Another symptom is that nothing shows up
under the History folder when I try to look at it with Windows Explorer
using this user account; the 'History.IE5' is there when I use another
account.

"I have seen previous posts mentioning two possible solutions: turning off
ActiveX prevention in the anti-virus software, and deleting the corrupted
index file. I turned off scripting in Norton AV (I think that's the right
setting to turn off), and then I turned off Norton AV completely (in case it
isn't). No history. I then logged off, logged on with my other user account
and deleted the History and Temporary Internet Files folders for the first
account, emptied the recycle bin, rebooted (just in case), and logged on
again. Both folders were recreated, but still no history."

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help Kelly. I too didn't have any luck. I have only one account set up but apart from that I have almost the same problems as Glenn
I have also noted that if I look at te Temp Internet files via a right click on that IE Icon etc etc it gives a different result than if I have IE opened. Even if not connected to the internet.

Oh and by the way Kelly can you tell me how to restore my Help and support button (via START) to show what it used to and not take me directly to your website please. I did not want this to happen. I have your site as a favourite

Hi,

Possibility:

I have seen this behavior caused by McAfee and from the date and time being
incorrect. Checkpoints and Suggestions:

Check to be sure that your date and time is correct. Also, if you are using
McAfee, this will help:

McAfee gave this solution to the bug where VirusScan 6 stops your
Internet Explorer History file working.

Open VirusScan console
Select "Pick a task..."
Select "Change my VirusScan settings"
Select "Configure VShield background scanning"
Select "Customise your VShield settings"

Select the "Internet Filter" icon from the icons down the left hand side On
the "Detection" tab, in the 'Applet filters' section, remove the tick next
to "ActiveX Controls".

As for Help and Support: Go to - Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this
key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f1-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\Instance\Init
PropertyBag

Delete: Param1="http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm"
And change: Method to read: Help
