IE hangs

Steve

Hello

For the past week or so I am finding that I must type in
the complete url of a site in order to prevent IE from
hanging. For example, if I type www.microsoft.com IE
hangs. I must also now type http://www.microsoft.com. In
other words, IE doesn't seem to be able to automatically
assume that I want to use the http protocol to access a
site any more.

Has anybody experienced this problem before?

Thanks for any advice.

Using Regedit, browse to the following registry key and make sure the noted
setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]
"Append Completion"="yes"

also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"

Thanks for the suggestion. The Append Completion setting
was set to "no" but changing it to "yes" did not make
any difference. Neither did adding the other values.
