IE corrupted by virus or scumware, takes over screen

IE-6 cannot be sized after getting a virus plus scumware on my pc
The virus and scumware have been removed, but either ie takes over the whole screen when it's opened, or goes to a title-bar only view with no window if minimized.
I have a lot of Favorites; I did make a back-up copy, in case I have to delete IE and start over.

Is there another way to fix things?

Have you tried pressing F11 to toggle Theater mode?
