IE Closing without warning

Try this:
tools/internet options/advanced/Microsoft VM - only tick
the JIT compiler
box and leave the Java boxes un checked (default)

We are experiencing the same problem. Browser opens with
home page but IE6 closes without warning (no beep is
played). We are all running Windows 2000 SP4 and the
latest IE.
Regretfully Henri's suggestion didn't work for us (we are
all using the default configuration which looks exactly as
Henri's description).
Am speaking for Peter in Salzburg (Austria), Rainer in
Starnberg (Germany) Ciro in Bogota (Colombia) and
Mauricio, Irene and myself in Caracas (Venezuela). Hope
someone our there can help, this is driving us crazy!

Thanks Henri but no cigar on this one. I think that as the
word pages seems to trigger this condition, which has been
verified by Brad, it is not due to any set-up of the
options given. Hopefully someone from MS might be able to
assist. It is not just an Australian problem now as I have
been contacted by sufferers in four continents.
