I just installed Norton 2004 onto my computer that runs
Win98. One of the requirements to install it was I had to
have IE6. So, I installed it. Now, I can't open anything
that uses IE. I can't even open IE itself. Everytime I try
to, I get this message "Microsoft Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience." then it asks me if I want to
restart IE. When I restart IE, same message box appears. I
use IE whenever I'm online, because I dislike AOL... alot.
Now I can't browse the internet the way I want. I just
don't know why I get this message or how to fix it.

Help Me,
Disgruntled IE user

Get rid of Norton anything and everything. It causes so many problems it
isn't worth having if they paid you to use it.

Next time the dreaded message comes up, click the "click here" link at the
bottom of the message box Copy and paste the contents on the details.
Can you be more specific on what you mean by "I can't browse the internet
the way I want"? Also, Norton products do cause some problems with PC's or
is it user configuration?. What specific Norton software(the title of the
package) did you install? I would un-install Norton and use some other
alternative software, but I don't think it will remove IE6 (AWOL's CD
didn't). It should be listed in the add/remove programs listing though. 1st
get the details of the IE inconvience message.
