IE cannot access webpages

Windows 98. IE 6 SP1. After opening home page, when trying
to access favorite, any link in home page, or address typed
in address bar, IE disappears instantly. No error message.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
