IE and ssl

I've been using IE 6.0 and it's stopped letting me access
secure sites. For some reason it isn't supporting SSL. I've
repeatedly checked my settings and can't see anything
wrong. I also find myself unable to use MSN messenger anymore.

If anyone could suggest anything I would be greatful.
