IE - about: blank stays in tray

Often, after exiting IE (6) in a tray I still see small label of IE with
"about: blank" page marked. Clicking on it or right clicking doesn't do
nothing - no even option to restore, maximize or so. Task Manager shows IE
running with same page. It takes 2-3 trials of "Exit program" in Task
manager to finally get rid of it - every time reporting some error. What it
might be?
