IE 8 won't start

A

Aaron

I have IE8 RC1, not sure the exact version number. I click the icon on
the quick launch, and can see the cursor (arrow with hourglass) to
show up, but then cursor goes normal. I wait a few seconds and IE8
does not come up.

It was running fine yesterday (02.04.2008). I tried re-installing IE8 and
everything was fine during re-install. After re-install, I double-click the
icon in QL, and still nothing.

If I go to "Add/Remove Programs" IE8 isn't listed. I ran hijack-this,
and at the top of the log file it says I have version 7 ((MSIE:
Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16762)).

I have also tried reverting back to IE7, re-installing Java, i've eliminated
some lines in msconfig that hi-jack this told me I didn't need. I've used
Restore Point, and had to reenter precious data. I'd rather not use it again,
to much data to reenter.

If anyone here has any suggestion, please let me know. Thanks.

I'll bet IE7 wasn't working either when all of this started.

Man, you're really up the proverbial creek and no paddle's gonna help now!

1. IE Beta Public Newsgroup Support: microsoft.public.internetexplorer.beta

Via the web-interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...spx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.beta

Via your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.beta

2. Why do you have AntiVir and remnants of AVG 7.5 and AVG 8.0 install
installed & loading at boot?

3. Why is an outdated version of Comodo Firewall as well as ZA firewall
installed?

4. Was AntiVir and/or AVG and/or Spybot Tea Timer and/or Comodo FW and/or ZA
FW enabled and/or running in the background when you installed, uninstalled,
and/or reinstalled IE8 RC1?

PS: You've got a hijackware infection and Automatic Updates hasn't worked
since Dec-08!

Your best bet is to format & reinstall Windows, a risk you accept by default
when installing any beta software. A Repair Install will NOT help! System
Restore will NOT help!

Good luck!
