IE 7 or FIrefox question

I have internet connection..my computer will download MS updates
automatically..but..IE 7 nor Firefox will open any web sites..
the Page shows " Internet explorer connot open the web page".. it's the
same with Firefow...Help!!..any suggestions?

Let's narrow down the troubleshooting:

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus
status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and
versions) did you use to determine this?

occasionally when mine starts that, cleaning out the cache, history and cookies helps.

might give it a try.

but since it is both IE and firefox, might no help.

are you sure you have marked them to be ONLINE and not off line.

also might try running with no add ons.

Helped a friend with the same (hopefully) problem a few weeks ago.

Do you use an email client, and if so... does it still work?

His did. His problem turned out to be a firewall problem (Norton)
that was blocking his browsers.

If not your firewall blocking access, try these.

Click Start, Run, type:

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter key

Restart the system
