IE 6 mouseover disappears

This is something I mentioned, previously. It was suggested it had to
be a virus, or something. So I downloaded Spybot, which reported only
some cookies.

The problem is that the link text disappears when you try to arrange
'favorites', or try to hover over a link in the history panel - maybe
in others, too. It's as if Windows is looking for a hover color that
hasn't been set. And it's all IE 6 SP1. It's beginning to sound like a
curse. I wish IE 6 SP1 on you, or something.

Where, oh where, is my IE 5.5?

Mark,
Do you have anything selected in:
Internet Options | General [tab] | Accessibility [button]
Be default all 4 options are unchecked ....

Mark,
Restart in Safe Mode .........
Does the problem still occur?
If yes, then it's IE related, if not it's most likely video driver related.

All unchecked. This isn't a problem with the web page as it is with
the IE panels, like arrange favorites and history. It's as if IE is
looking for yet another hover color that hasn't been set - or maybe is
set to white (which is the panel background). And if it's the later, I
don't know where that would be. IE 5.5, didn't do this, to say the
least.

On nvidia, or something. I made the mistake of getting a GeF 5200
64bit bus nvidia. I'll probably get Radeon, instead. It's going to
take a while to work through the right mobo and video, I can see that
now. Fortunately, I've got 30days with Fry's for all that.
