IE 6 Closing

I am running windows 2000 and using Internet Explorer 6.
I have a dsl line through comcast.

When I open Internet Explorer a webpage starts to open but
then closes before it is finished.

I am on the internet because I can ping yahoo,
microsoft,etc. I was able to get my updated definitions
through live update from symantec, but can not IE 6.

Any Ideas?

are you using any pop-up blockers? This could be a
culprit. Most blockers let you hold a key to allow popups,
like ctrl. What page is your home page? What did you do
just before this started happening?

I have uninstalled all popup blockers, and also I tried
downloading Netscape Navigator and that worked. However I
really need to have IE back on my system. I have tried to
uninstall and reinstall IE but that didn't work either.
