IE 6.0won't search. Please help!

All of the sudden, my internet explorer search bar will
not search. I have IE 6.0 and I have only downloaded the
updates from Mircosoft. I can use the search bar to type
in full web site address, but when I do just a general
search I get the following msg:

Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer

Because of this, I have to go to another search engine
(google, yahoo, etc.) then search by using their search
bar.Also, a lot of the web pages I try to access within
web sites do not show. Please, any help would be
appreciated. This is becoming annoying.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
