If I have an open IE window and click the IE icon to open a new IE window,
the first window shuts down. No error message...nothing at all. Just
disappears. Every time. Any ideas?

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."

And... you may have a toolbar or program running which is blocking pop-up
windows- something like Yahoo toolbar, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, etc.
The Yahoo toolbar is a very common cause. Disabling the pop-up blocker may
allow a second window to open. Or you may have to uninstall the toolbar.

Hope this helps,

Don,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your response makes sense, but it
didn't work. The previous windows are still being closed. We had the Google
toolbar and popup blocker, but disabled that. We are running Norton AV 2006,
but I haven't found anything there that works.

Not sure what to do next. Just seems so strange - kind of out of the blue.
We did recently install a Java Applet, but I haven't found a way into it to
see if it's messing things up. Any other ideas?

Again, I appreciate your response.

Don,

Please ignore my previous post describing the failure of your idea. Any
idiot knows that you must reboot the computer for stuff like this to take
effect. Evidently, I'm not that bright. You were right.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Glad you got it resolved. My next suggestion would have been to carefully
check the Add or remove programs list for the Yahoo toolbar. It's currently
being bundled/offered with several other free programs.
