IE 6.0 Favorites won't stay sorted

Ever since I had a renegade adware company invade my
system, I am unable to keep my favorites sorted. I can
right click on them and select "sort by name", it sorts
them correctly, and stays sorted until I close the
browser. When I open the browser the next time, the
favorites are back in their original unsorted positions.
The spyware was erradicated long ago. All my firewalls
and antivirus software are up to date. I am using XP Pro
and IE6.0. No other problems exist.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE?
