Whenever I try to post on a forum or newsgroup such as this
or send information on most sites -IE unexpectedly shuts
down. I sometimes get an error message "IE has encountered
an unexpected problem and will close down", other times
there is no error message.
I tried to update windows XP and saw there were 12
potential updates needed there but I kept getting the same
error there when I tried to go to review and install
updates, and was kicked out again. I'm using Netscape to
post this otherwise I would be kicked out again.
A little history: I was having problems with my computer
and tried downloading a PC utility. It messed up a few
things. I have most of the problems encountered fixed but
I think this problem is perhaps one of the problems caused
by that installation. I have scanned for malware on my
computer and do not find anything. I have uninstalled that
pc utility and have also disabled many of my start up
programs (that has really boosted my bootup time -I don't
know where the problem there is but something in my startup
configuration is really causing my computer grief). I did
not touch any microsoft items in the startup (selected
disable non-microsoft programs only).
Can anyone suggest anything to fix this? It is really
annoying to type something only to press send and crash.
