ie 1394

I just installed a ie 1394 fire wire card in my computer.
It is XP compatable. When I turn the computer on it does
not find any new hardware. Are there some changes I need
to make in XP so it will find the card?

Plug a Firewire device in, such as a camera and see if that
helps?

Does the Firewire card show in the device manager?
