Idle-timed Hibernate and/or standby sometimes works and sometimes doesn't,
why doesn't it work properly all the time??

I have winxp pro + all the updates + p4 3.0c 800 HT + 1gb mem [yes i
installed microsoft's patch for when mem is 1gb and won't hibernate]. + asus
p4p800 D + latest bios + Ati aiw 9600 pro + logitech quickcam 4000 pro +
microsoft trackball explorer + logitech internet navigator keyboard

I can manually set the computer into hibernate no problem however when i set
a timed like say after 25 minutes of no cpu & keyboard/mouse acitivty it
sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. When it doesn't i can reboot
[sometimes it doesn't work even after a reboot have to reboot twice] and
most of the times it works good for alittle while then stops working even
without me rebooting or anything. When i mean stops working i mean that it
doesn't put the computer into hibernat after the 25 minutes.

I've reinstalled win xp thru CD but still have same problem.
I have both enabled and disabled Apm in bios still same.

You microsoft guru's know anything ???? is the Hyperthreading messing with
the way windows see's the cpu idle activity ????? etc

thanks

Does idle/timed hibernate work correctly if you have screen saver set to
"none"?

i tried unchecking everything in the network power settings, i also disabled
the fax service but still no good

the problem seems to lay in the cpu idle part because i have a seperate
program "nncron" that can check and activate hibernate it and this is what
i'm seeing:
1. if IDLE let's say 25 minute [to check, this IDLE command only checks for
Idle keyboard & mouse use not cpu usuage] then Hibernate = this works ok.

BUT this doesn't work properly
2. if CPU-USAGE 3 < [so if cpu is under 3% - i also tried other settings]
and i have a program running and using say 50 % it tries to put the computer
into hibernate and if i don't have anything running it doesn't hibernate ???
weird
