Identifying a driver: i2omgmt.sys

The driver i2omgmt.sys is indicated by Sysinternals AUTORUNS but is not found
in systems32.

My question is what is this driver? One search suggested that it is
"Microsoft Corporation I2O Utility Filter."

If this is correct, what is IO2?

I do not find such a reference to it anywhere on microsoft.com (only
included in people's list of drivers regarding this or that problem).

I figured that a Microsoft forum should be able to answer these questions.

I've seen SCSI controller cards that are I2O.

Thanks a...I will do some searches on SCSI I2O. If anyone can pin down
i2omgmt.sys that woudl be great.

It seems that SCSI (as well as RAID) was a principle beneficiary of I2O as
per the glossary definition of SCSI:

functions.

So does anyone know if a computer without SCSI (or RAID) needs I2O? Is it
still integrated into PC architecture apart from SCSI (or some versions of
RAID)?
