Identify 131KB File: DPE.DUS??

Susan

I just noticed a new file after a clean install of XP Professional named
DPE.DUS. It is ~131KB in size and located in the root of My Documents. No
other identifiers in Properties and nothing identifiable looking at the
contents.

Does anyone know what/who added this file?

Anyone care to speculate on why programmers refuse to identify ownership
single strange files of this sort. It seems irresponsible to me that they
don't for files outside of any identifying folder but of course I am
sometimes very anal about just what files I find in my machine. Maybe it
is spyware and Ad-aware will remove it when I get to reinstalling that?

Thanks.

Typically appears after installing scanner software which contains this technology.

I think you nailed it here. I did a test of a document to see how good the
OCR technology was with my new all-in-one psc 2410 HP. Although I would
have thought the system would have recognized the .dus file extension it
doesn't. Oh well...I just deleted both the file and the empty folder.
