I have 2 identical personal folders showing up in the navigation pane in Outlook 2003 but I have only one *.pst folder.
I cann ot remove/delete/hide one of them.

No I can't close either of them.
They are both identical and both are recieving the same data.
It is as if there are two *.pst folders but there is only one.

Thank you.
I created a new profile and then i was able to close the other personal Folder in the navigation pane.
This has however caused another problem which is that since doing the above when composing a new message Outlook no longer suggests names for me when I start to type.
I do have the box checked in the advanced section of the mail setup in options.
It seems that outlook has forgotten/lost the list of names it used to suggest for me.
Is there anyway i can restore it or has it gone now?
Hoping for your help
Gordon

Thanks for that.
I succesfully created a new profile and was able to close the second Personal Folder in the navigation pane.
This however seems to have brought up another problem which is that Outlook no longer suggests names for me when I am composing a new message. I do have the box checked which is supposed to turn this feature on so have I lost the list of names Outlook used to suggest or is there any way to restore it.
Thanks for you help

go to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
(You can easily access it by pasting %USERPROFILE%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the Address bar of your browser or Windows
Explorer) and find *.NK2. They are named by the profile and you probably
have two - close outlook and delete the new one and rename the old one to
use the name of the new one.

I am having the EXACT same problem, but can not reach this URL. That server
archive does not appear to be available. outlookmvps.org still exists, but
the faq sub-domain is gone.

Would you please directly repost the answer to this thread, or post another
valid URL where the information may be found?

Many thanks.

The simple answer is to create a new profile from Control Panel's Mail
applet.

Hi
Very simple, go to "File" menu, choose "Data File Managment" n U will see 2
similar Personal Folder in the name column, juz delete the one not showing
Mail Delivery Location in the comment column tag together on the same row.

Wrong. The mail profile is corrupt and your suggestion won't work in that
case.
