I have a 2-week old XP box that was connecting fine to DSL (w/ PPPoE)
automatically by having a shortcut to the DSL connection in the
startup folder. Having IE launch via Startup triggered an
auto-connect based on the config to "always dial a connection" when 1
not present. But no more.
The shortcut to the connection is still there in Startup, settings
don't look changed, and IE is still launching automatically at
startup. Problem is, DSL is not connecting automatically - have to do
so completely manually and then it all works fine. The DSL
connection shortcut in Startup doesn't even seem to trigger the
user/password prompt.
Since it's a new machine, I have of course been installing a fair
amount of software, but relatively few apps are in the Startup lineup
(like 5 total). Do the above symptoms suggest anything or ring any
bells?
Thx,
