IDE ports question

Hi, I have the ASUS A7N8X-X mobo which has 2 IDE ports (like most others
do). My present configuration is like so:
2 HDD's connected to IDE 1 as master and slave, DVD witer connected to IDE2,
then a SCSI CDR writer to a SCSI adapter.

I have a small IDE HDD , 8.4Gb, which I would like to add to the current
setup, so can anyone please advise me of the best way to do this, if it is
possible.

Thanks

Should be able to connect up to 4 drives to 2 ports If I remember
correctly you can also buy PCI buss IDE controllers.Don't know prices.

Put the two most often used devices on opposing channels (cables). If you
then find that DVD burning is suffering you might want to change the
configuration so that the burner is on a channel opposing the source
drive(s).

Put it has a slave on the 2nd controller. Make sure you set the
jumpers appropriately on both drives.

Have a nice week...

Follow Joan Rivers' example --- get pre-embalmed!

i would be cautious,
some writers (be it cdr(w)/dvd) require that they be the masters on the ide
cable
or they might refuse to work properly

your present config reflects that, but if you were to change it, please keep
the above in mind
when somethiong will not work

hth, me!
