My XP machine has been flaky for exactly 3 days and my spyware log files
all show a process called sysldrv.exe running only during the last three
days.

The weird thing is, I can only find one reference to this file on the
net. One! and it was from two days ago. The other weird thing is that I
can't find any reference to this file in my registry, or in startup. I
have no idea what it is, or how it starts.

Can a few of you check your task manager and let me know if this is a
common process? Thanks.

I don't have this process in my Windows XP Pro.

Good luck

I have recently done a house call on an XP Pro system and there were
few things not right. It took 3 hours to fix and clean the machine. Th
2 key problems/solutions are as follows;

#1) system would only boot up in 4 colors and the nVidia dll would cra
out ( it was pretty ugly to work with, missing 16 + million colors ).
could not increase the screen resolution or color depth at the time
even as administrator! )

#2) CPU utilization was at 99% after full boot up and the proces
taking all the CPU was " SYSLDRV.exe " taking a solid 98 % . It almos
looked like it was in a loop. The data transfer light on Zone alarm ha
high amounts of data going out as well. I did not run any packet trace
and tried to lower the process priority with no luck. I then decided t
go into SAFE MODE and rename the file to anything so that it could no
load. I then re-booted and was able to re-size the screen resolutio
and 16.9 Mil colors were back at last. The file SYSLDRV.exe was date
Apr 18 2004 and I can not determine what install or process added
updated or created it. I found the file unde

Same problem for me

My system was running pretty sluggish. It was slow to respond when calling up windows explorer and other utilities that use explorer. I noticed that I was able to kill the process successfully at times but it would reload immediately. I ended up writing a little batch file that (so I could be quick) would delete the sysldrv.exe file under c:\windows\system32

I then killed the process and immediately ran my batch file witch successfully deleted the file. Now everything runs much quicker.

I wouldn't have noticed that it was that executable causing the problems because it's CPU and memory usage was pretty low.

Glad it's taken care of now though.
