OK, I am trying to hook my son's playstation 2 to the internet via my
wireless laptop. I have made the connection bridge, and when I test the
connection using the Playstation, it says connection successfull, however,
when I go to actually log on using the playstation, the light on the "local
area" connection plug comes on, then goes off and a message pops up: "cable
unplugged". I have windows XP, and I have a cross over cable attached to the
laptop into the playstation. I can still access the internet via the laptop
after the bridge is made, so I know it SHOUDL be working. Does anyone have
any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure that I would try ICS with a PS2. I would consider a hardware
adapter for the PS2; WAP, or the like:

Thanks, but I am aware of all of the gaming adapters out there. A $10.00
crossover cable is much cheaper than these adapters, if I can get this to
work. I have seen instructions on how to do it, but I am having the problem
described above, so apparently you can do this, I'm just missing something.

Crossover cables can be problematic, though. Sort of like black magic. They
were intended primarily as uplinks for switches and hubs. That said, I will
try and look at your connection plan again....

How does the laptop connect to the Internet? Wireless, yes; but is it a
wireless router? WAP on a wired router? Or just a wireless modem? What IP
address is on the Internet facing connection of the laptop? Presumably the
ICS connection is assigning 192.168.0.1 to the network adapter on the
laptop side of the crossover cable, and the PS2 gets 192.168.0.2. How did
you configure the PS2? Obtain an IP address automatically? Manually
configured? DNS servers?
