My main pc has XP Pro and connects to the web via a
modem. Everthing works well from this machine to the web
and ICS is on and ICF off. I have a home network via a
hub. The problem is that my laptop (XP Home,ICF off)can
access most web sites. I cannot connect to any microsoft
site from the laptop through my home network. I connect
to ebay front page, browse page and cannot open any
catagory pages. There are no error messages, it just
sits there waiting saying opening site ??????.com.
Any ideas?

This is a common problem with DSL connections that use PPP Over
Ethernet (PPPoE), and it might apply to regular dial-up connections,
too. Here are some possible fixes. Any one of them should solve the
problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 on the ICS host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computers, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computers, or use
DrTCP to make it:

http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:
