Set up

PC1 – Win XP sp1 192.168.0.1
PC2 – Win XP sp1 Auto IP O
PC3 – Win ME Auto IP O

Norton Firewall has been disabled. All file and printer sharing OK and can ping all internal addresses. All connected via wireless access point. Host PC runs DHCP

PC1 has USB ADSL modem to connect to ISP and is all set up for ICS - when either PC2 or 3 wants to connect to the Internet the connection on PC1 dials up and connects. However Internet explorer just sits there saying ‘Website found waiting for reply’. It does not time out

However Microsoft Messenger does work on both PC2 and 3

Internet explorer works fine on PC1, with sites downloading as expected. However on PC1 there is an icon in network connections stating ‘Internet Gateway’, should this be on the host pc?

Any ideas why this might happen/ what the problem is

Julian,

perhaps it is a MTU problem. You may have to reduce the MTU size
from 1500 to 1492 bytes on all client computers.

You can use DrTCP from www.speedguide.net to do that, and they
also have a wonderful TCP/IP Analyzer on their Web site.

Not sure though.
