ICS not working

B

Brice

Hello,

I've got a peer-to-peer network setup with three w2k pro machines.
I'm using a dialup connection on one machine which has ICS turned on.
The other two ICS client machines can reach the internet but not using
DNS. That is, the ICS clients can ping http://216.109.118.78 (yahoos
IP) but they cannot ping www.yahoo.com. The ICS server has full DNS
access and can access the internet normally.

My ipconfig /all data for the ICS server and one of the clients is
pasted in below. I would really appreciate any ideas anyone may have
because I've tried everything I can think of and the results don't
change.

Looks good except for one possibility. Try enabling Netbios over TCP/IP on
your PPP connection. Clients, on the other hand, should get Netbios from
DHCP.
Also, if you have a firewall, make sure you have allowed your clients access
to the internet.
Good luck

The config is ok, but it seems you have a desktop firewall, denying
traffic over port 53. You should allow that port to enable ICS to work
as the DNS-forwarder.
