ICS, LAN and Wireless - strange problem

Up to last night, when I took my PC to a friend's place and was forced
to change my network settings, my home network was functioning 100%
fine. Now, I have tried everything I can think of to make it work
again, to no avail. My setup is as follows:

- Desktop pc running XP Pro SP1 with 802.11g wireless LAN card and
integrated NForce2 LAN.
- Laptop running XP Home with 802.11g wireless LAN card
- Wireless broadband adapter going into my desktop PC via PPPoE cable

Now I must stress that this setup worked fine before. The wireless LAN
worked great, and I had my wireless broadband connection shared via
ICS to the wired LAN, which in turn was bridged to the wireless LAN
via a standard Network Bridge in Network Connections.

Now, however, I have tried using the Network Setup Wizard, as well as
configuring everything manually, and still things are not behaving
correctly. The symptoms are:
- Unable to see the status of the internet connection from the laptop
(the shared internet connection used to show up in the Network
Connections screen on the laptop)
- I can FTP from the laptop, and ping machines on the Internet, but I
cannot surf the Web or check email. I can *send* email, though...

Can anyone perhaps suggest what I might do to resolve this problem? I
don't know if I'm describing the issue clearly enough, but it seems
that the setup is working partially. However, the inability to surf
the web or check email is a major problem. I use Foxmail for email,
and Opera for WWW, and neither are set to use any proxies, so that's
also not the problem.

Anyone? Help!

Thanks in advance!

With a little luck, you can be saved by XP's System Restore function.
Click on Help/Support, then on Performance/Maint, then look for the Wiz.

Thanks for this, Bob, I'll try it this evening and let you know how it
pans out. Your help is greatly appreciated! :)
