Window XP.....all of a sudden when I turn on my computer
and the welcome sign comes up it stays longer......than
it takes my icons to appear on my desk top longer and
longer to appear.Does anyone know the reason and how to
correct this.Any help or suggestion will be greatly
appreciated.

The more icons that you have on your desktop the slower
your computer will get; they do take up memory resources.
For your computer to operate at its optimum speed, the
shortcuts you place on your desktop should be resticted to
the ones that get installed with XP. Also, if you have
lots of little icons on the bottom right, this can also
slows down your PC.

I would recommend that you remove all the shortcuts on
your desktop and open the programs from the standard start
programs menu. Make sure they are shortcuts before you
delete. Do not delete My Documents, My Computer, My
Network Places, Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, Microsoft
Outlook. These are standard to the install. Delete only
the icons that have a small black arrow on a white
background. If they don't have the little black arrow
don't delete them.

When you install software make sure you check no when they
offer to create a shortcut or ask if you want an icon in
your systray. Many people keep these checked and then
wonder why there computer slows down.
