icons on desktop

Just FYI

Right-click the desktop, choose View, and clear the checkmark from
Auto-Arrange.
 
A strange problem with icons on desktop. When I create a new icon on the
desktop (either new program installation or "send to desktop"), the new
icon are added to the desktop in alphabetical order. Anyway to change
this Vista doesn't sort my desktop icons?
TIA
 
Forgot to mention. Auto arrange if unchecked but alg to grid is checked.
