Icons on desktop (and elsewhere) do not show ghost when dragged

I just bought a brand new Dell computer and it came with
something a bit wacky. When I click on any icon and drag
it I cannot see it dragging -- there is not ghost icon
visible. When I let go of the mouse it moves where I was
pointing but I cannot see the ghost as I drag it.

I have created alternate users and the problem remains
for these new accounts as well.

What should I do? I need to fix this rather than send
the whole thing back to Dell.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. I've tried updating the VGA drivers &
BIOS (clutching at straws, I know!), but still have the same problem.
This is on a Delll Latitude X300. Any ideas anyone? I'm off to wade
through Dells forums...
