Icons missing after SP2 install

David

I successfully (I thought) installed SP2 for my XP Home
on a HP machine. I have several accounts set up on this
computer, including 2 "limited" accounts for my children.
Under the "limited" accounts, they have few desktop icons
(including Word, etc) appearing and the start menu is
missing icons also. When I change the account to
Administratort, all icons appear. When I change back
to "limited", the incons disappear. How can I get the
icons to apear under "limited".

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down to
Item No. 195 (right column), click on "Restore Desktop Icons and
Taskbar".

Install the registry fix, then reboot your computer.

Carey,

Thank you for your reply to my inquiry. I tried your
suggestion; however, my virus scanner detected a virus
with the "Item 195" link. Any other suggestions?

Disable your antivirus program while performing the fix.
The fix requires making a registry correction, but your
antivirus program is preventing the fix. The fix is not
a virus.
