Icons messed up

I recently suffered a power outage and when I rebooted my
system, much of the graphics were distroed with green
lines, both vertical and horizontal. I restarted and this
got rid of many of them, but many icons seem to be
permanently green vertical lines now. How should I fix
this? And what is this caused by? It has happened before
independent of an outage.
