When I installed Creative Sound Blaster software using Windows 2000, all
Windows 2000 update and service pack icons are changed to Sound Blaster
registration icons. Why does it do this?? How can I keep this from
happening?

It sounds like your shellIconCache has become corrupted. To rebuild
the cache, right-click on an open area of your desktop and select
"Properties". Then click on the "Appearance" tab. In the "Item"
window, select "Icon". Then change the "Size" window to be one bigger
then click on "Apply". This should rebuild your icon cache and correct
your icons. Change the size back to where it was and click "OK" to
tidy things back up.

There are ways of increasing the size of the Icon cache.
See tip #4051 at <http://www.jsiinc.com/reghack.htm>.
