I have several programs which are supposed to start at Startup. One of them
(its icon) suddenly disappeared from the System Tray. I did a Restart, but
it's still not there. I checked msconfig and it's still checked as one of my
Startup items. What happened? Also, when I went to the exe file and tried to
start the program, it wouldn't start. I gat an hourglass for a few seconds,
then nothing. Ideas? Thanks in advance!

Right click an empty space on the task bar and select properties, uncheck -
Hide Inactive Icons.

I did that, but it still isn't there. Do I need a restart to make the "Hide
Inactive Icons" work?

No, but go a little further on this,
Click to place a check mark in Hide inactive Icons, and click Customize.
Under Current Items, double click the progams and select
Always Show in the drop down window.
And it is usually best if you do restart after making changes.

Looks like it's a problem with SP2. On my system, speaker icon doesn't
stick. I have to reenable it every time.
