Sytem Tray Icons disappearing

G

Needed to reinstall XP Pro. Everything went smoothly, except that several
programs that formerly worked fine now seem to suffer from disappearing icons
in the system tray. The generic audio icon (loudspeaker), and several others
don't appear after restarting - even though the programs themselves are
running and doing what they are supposed to do.

Any thoughts?

thanks

Icons are missing or disappear, reappear: This happens for most Auto-Logon
users.

Methods/workarounds: Log off and Log back on, password protect your account
or disable SSDP and uPNP Services.

I wonder if this has been corrected for Anal Fistula (Vista)? Or has MS
just added a pop up box something to the affect:

You have choosen to logon automatically. If this is what you really
want to do, type in your password, and choose OK. ;-)
