Icon Colour

I have a problem with the icons on my desktop having a box of colour around
them instead of being transparent. I have tried all of the solutions I could
find listed under the same problem but none of them seem to work. This
happened after a Spyware detection wallpaper took over my desktop, which I
think I managed to solve. But the icon problem remained. HELP!!!!

You should look harder then. Why do you think people are going to waste their time telling you what you already know. You said you tried all solutions.

I'm sorry but I think you misread my post. I believe I said I tried all of
the solutions I could FIND.

To those kind souls who may actually be willing to help, I have tried this
method: "Right-click on My Computer, select Properties, Advanced tab,
Settings button in Performance section, under Visual Effects tab scroll down
and click in the checkbox beside "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the
desktop" to check it, then Apply then OK and OK again"

as well as this one: In the Appearance window select the Advanced button
Under Item, select Desktop and under Color select 1 then click OK"

and this one: "Right-click a blank area of the Desktop, then select Arrange
Icons by and
click to uncheck "Lock Web Items on Desktop"

The info on here
"http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305117" didn't seem
to work either. If anyone else can offer other solutions, I will be eternally
grateful.

Thank you!!

This one is a waste of time.
In the Appearance window select the Advanced button
Under Item, select Desktop and under Color select 1 then click OK"

You have to have no web items on the desktop or html wallpaper as well.

As I said in my previous post (Mr. David Candy please read carefully) "In
the Appearance window select the Advanced button
Under Item, select Desktop and under Color select 1 then click OK" did not
work for me.

I would be grateful to any other suggestions.
Thanks.

Perhaps you should learn to read. I said it was a waste of time - select anything you want - it will have no effect on making boxes transparent.

I would greatly appreciate it Mr.Candy if you would no longer reply. I
posted this subject in hopes of finding help to my problem and I simply do
not find your comments aiding me in any way, and in actuality, is simply
wasting MY time.

If there is anyone who would be willing to help, I would greatly appreciate
it. Thank you!

You posted a lazy post wxpecting other to type because you are too lazy to type. Then when the information is finally supplied I point out the two things you hadn't tried and pointed out that one thing you did has no relevence to your problem.

So what is a proven moron like you unhappy about. Do you think anyone will answer you when you refuse to check the two other things.

Have you tried -
Right click on desktop. Select Properties, then open Desktop tab.
Click on the Customize Desktop button, then open the Web tab.
Delete everything in the Web Pages box except, My Current Home Page.
Press OK, then Apply, and maybe OK again.
You may have to restart for settings to take effect.

Your ignorance simply baffles me. I have tried to be as polite as I can, but
it is obvious a slow jerk like you does not get it. I DO NOT WISH TO READ
YOUR REPLYS MR.CANDY. You are of no help and I would appreciate it if you
would stop talking up space for the replys that may actually be helpful.

And the even remotely close reply to offering any aid you posted: "This one

You have to have no web items on the desktop or html wallpaper as well."

So, Mr. Candy in this post you did not supply me with any 2 things I haven't
tried. No, you simply gave me 1 thing I HAVE tried. And if by "pointed out
that one thing you did has no relevence to your problem." you meant this oh
so polite comment "Perhaps you should learn to read. I said it was a waste of
time - select anything you want - it will have no effect on making boxes
transparent" I believe you are making yourself out to be alot more innocent
then you actually are. I hope I do not hear from you again.

If you don't want the answer don't post here. I've told you the two critera you hadn''t tried. I told you the useless one you had. I can't help it that you are lazy and retarded.

Don't post here as you are far too stupid. Also you are lazy and abuse the newsgroups expecting others to waste their time typing what you had already tried.

Hm.... that didn't seem to work. I'm afraid even after restarting, the
colour remained. But I really appreciate the help! Thank you.

Had a similar problem at work when we tried:
Click on the Start button
Select Control Panel
Then select Performance and Maintenance/Adjust Visual Effects/"Use drop shadows for icon labels on
the Desktop".
Classic – Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings

What we did was uncheck "Use drop shadows etc", applied and then
went back in and re checked it.

It worked on that computer, just a thought as I don't have any further ideas to assist in this.

Oh for pete's sake, you just don't know when to let it go do you?
I keep getting the striking impression that you are some 17 year old child
with far too much time on his hands. I hate having to repeat myself, but in
your case, it seems you need it. I hope I never hear from you again.

Then don't post here. You obviously don't want the answer. Abusive people like you usually act this way when their abusive (I realise it is from stupidity not intent) behaviour is pointed out to them.

You should also learn how to read.
