ICMP bloced.

My ISP has blocked ICMP, so i cant ping anything ahead of
my ISP's server. This happened a week back. I used to have
batch files using NETSH script to shift over when
yahoo.com would get timed out. IS there any other way to
detect if connection is lost and thus use NETSH to shift
over? Can i ping HTTP of yahoo if not ICMP? Something like
that, because port 80 is always open.
Thanks.
