ICF Question

How can I enable XP's ICF for dial-up connections for
ISP's like AOL, where I cannot access the connection
properties in Network Connections?

I've tried to enable the internet connection firewall in
Windows XP through my Network Connections folder, but when
trying to bring up the Properties of the AOL Dial-up
connection, nothing happens. Probably becuase it's got
it's own settings for connecting to the Internet. But I'd
like to enable the ICF if possible.

If I create a bogus dial-up connection, I am able to check
the ICF box as the Microsoft KB article says to.

Help!

America Online installs its own connection settings that override
the ones that come with Windows XP. America Online's
connection settings don't include a way to turn on Windows XP's
built-in firewall.

Visit the following web site for instructions on downloading
a FREE firewall program for your computer.

Carey,

Thanks for you help! That's what I was afraid of... I'll
check out your link and look into firewall software.

Thanks again!

Todd,

ICF+ which will be available in XPSP2 will allow you to set global settings.
This will allow your AOL dial-up connection to be firewalled. However
because they are global, any such settings will apply to all connections.
