I would suggest you fix Outlook so it can send real links.

I have tried fruitlessly to get Outlook 2003 to create a image based link
like most other email programs can do. I have even tried to create text links
where the link is longer than 80 chars. Each time, Outlook trashes the link.
I have used both Word as the composing tool and the Outlook composing tool
with the same lame results.

you'll need to be more specific about what you are doing, the steps you are
using and what the result is.

Are you just complaining, or do you want help? If so, be specific and
ask a question.

Man, you guys are harsh.
Um, I think he wants to send an e-mail with an image that's inserted as an
<img> tag that references a url and not embedded into the message (as a mime
embedded picture).
FedUp, the feature already exists... here's the answer:
1) Go to Tools | Options -> Mail Format -> Internet Format, and turn OFF the
option "When an HTML message contains pictures located on the Internet, send
a copy instead...."
2) Then, if using the built-in Outlook editor, simply go to Insert | Picture
and type in the URL.
3) If using Word as your editor, go to Insert | Picture -> From File, and
type in the URL.... then DON'T click "Insert".... click the little down
arrow next to it and click "Insert as Link."

Voila.

I thought his post was obvious. Maybe not. I tried to answer it another post
in this thread.

Also... this might go without saying.... if you then want to make your
linked picture a hyperlink to somewhere, simply highlight the picture and
choose Insert | Hyperlink (in both Outlook Editor, and Word Mail) just as
you would with normal text.
