I would choose Nvidia 6800 over Ati X800

No that's not an OS problem, it's a clueless user problem.

It sounds like you're clueless to recognize the problem.

Don't use them. Use the MS drivers. Problem over... quite how the problem
could be part of the nForce controller when the MS drivers work fine is
beyond me...

That is easily explained, the IDE drivers were crap, that is obvious since
the M$ drivers give no troubles.
Crappy nvidia drivers, just like I said.
Do YOU own an nFroce2 chipset?

Yes I do, it used to be my main rig until I bought a P4 machine now it
sits in another room crunching numbers day and night.
I do and have not had a single problem with it. Well, none that were not
directly caused by my playing around when I shouldn't.

When I bought my gigabyte nforce2 board (GA-7N400 pro2) the chipset
drivers on the nvidia website were the same version # that came with the
setup disk so I just used the ones off the disk, my CD rom disappeared
directly afterwards, did a system restore and it came back.
Downloaded the ones from the nvidia site and had the same trouble so I did
what you did and just used the M$ drivers and it worked fine but IDE
performance was not as good as it should have been.
Not long afterward nvidia released a newer version, I installed and
everything worked perfectly with a noticable boost in IDE performance.

I am sure you don't figure out ATI driver related problems on your own. It
sounds like you're stupider. ;-)

Actually I have never had to figure out an Ati problem since I have not
had any.
There was much reading required to get the drivers installed in linux but
I pulled it off on the first try.

ATI performance tells me all there is to know about ATI cards. ;-)

Yes, they are on top of the performance market and sell like hotcakes
because they are also very stable.
Your stupidity is greater.

I'm not the one posting flames about something I know absolutely nothing
about, feckless idiot.
Nvidia is unchallenged... Simple as that... ;-)

Translation: You ran.

So noted.
Do you know what the real challenge is for ATI cards? Stability, and
compatibility... ;-)

Post proof.

It seems that your buddies in Iraq are up to no good again.

They are not my buddies. They are human beings that have to be treated as
human beings just like you and I.
Wow if that's not the understatement of the century. I guess we "deserved" this one
though... right Ryan?

We declared war against Iraq. We invaded and occupied their country. We
brought death and chaos when we promised them liberation and freedom.

Simply because the country was too dangerous for Nick Berg, The FBI made him
an offer to get him out of the country, but he persistently refused such
offer knowing that his life was at great risk because the money he was
making seemed to him it was worth risking his life.

Even though I tried to watch the uncensored video clip when Nick Berg's head
was getting cut off, I simply couldn't...

Believe it or not, half-way through the clip, I had to stop it because I
felt dizzy at first, and had to cuff my hands over my mouth to prevent
myself from throwing up over the keyboard, and I literally threw up. The
images haunted me ever since.

This war is not worth the casualties that we're sacrificing.
While the injustices and cruelties committed by U.S. commanders at the Abu
Ghraib prison were in direct contradiction to the values that we Americans
have built our society on, the people responsible have been court-martialed
and will be punished accordingly. Also, the events of the Abu Ghraib prison
were never televised in an attempt to terrorize people or condoned by U.S.
military and or government.

I hope we don't act as those we condemn. I hope we don't lower ourselves by
going lower than the ones we condemn.
Conversely, your precious and victimized Islamic militants killed and
brutally mutilated our West Chester, PA-born Nick Berger, in an act that
only serves to demonstrate just how sub-human and barbaric these Muslim
extremists really are, and televised it for all the world to see.

I don't appreciate your sarcasm stating that "MY precious and victimized
Islamic militants..." stuff. It is not the Islamic militants but innocent
Iraqi civilians victimized by the U.S. troops that I disapprove. The
beheading of Nick Berg was done by the Islamic militants because they were
outraged and fed-up with the massacre of the innocent Iraqi civilians by the
U.S. troops. They just wanted to make a statement and give us a taste of our
own medicine. Do I approve their way of making that statement? No, I don'
t...

Humans are humans. If we treat them as humans, we will be treated as humans
by them in return. If we did everything we could... to conquer their hearts
rather than killing innocent Iraqi civilians indiscriminately to conquer
their country, I am positive that the Iraqis would embrace us and work with
us rather than against us.

For the convenience of your argument, you can't simply label those innocent
Iraqis killed indiscriminately by the U.S. troops "Islamic militants" in
order to justify the overall massacre caused by the U.S. troops upon the
Iraqi population.
Earlier you had mentioned that our foreign war policies were alienating
other countries (supposed allies).

It is a fact. We turned our back on the United Nations thinking we were all
high and mighty and that we didn't need help or approval of any nation.

We're in this mess because of our own fault, misjudgment and political
mistake.
However, it is only after powerful events like this one, when these countries fail to
publicly condemn these savage terrorist attacks, that we see their true
colors.

So what if they do, or don't condemn, it doesn't help the fact that we got
ourselves in this mess by thinking that we were all high and mighty and that
we didn't need any help or approval of any other nation to do what we wanted
to do.

At first, we didn't give a **** about the approval of the United Nations.
When something we don't like happens, we seek the sympathy of the United
Nations. Let me tell you something, my friend. War is not a bed of roses. We
declared war against Iraq with our own political will, and agenda. We opened
up a can of worms, and we have to man up and bear the consequences.

It sounds like you're lying. ;-) If you own an ATI card, the problem is
guaranteed to have. ;-)

If you had the guts to take me up on the 3dmark 2k3 challenge you would
have been able to see exactly what my system specs are since futuremark
lists them on benchmark scores, impossible to alter.

Since you are clearly terrified of taking me up on the challenge then you
will never know, sissy.

Linux is nice. I love it. The only problem is that I can't play the games I

You have absolutely no clue about Linux, but go on and keep pretending
that you do, it makes for some great entertainment at your expense.

Is that a fact or an illusion?

That is a fact easily verified by countless review sites that claimed the
9800xt never failed during benchmarks and came out on top in regards to
performance in the overwhelming majority of tests.

If you still have any doubts I would be glad to cite the major sites that
make those claims for you, just ask.
I used an ATI card and experienced nothing but problems.

Because you are simply too stupid to know your own errors, you probably
didn't even install the gart driver, feckless idiot.
Nope! The Nvidia cards outperform ATI cards in stability and compatibility.

Completely false as I've already stated earlier in this reply.
You just need to use an Nvidia card. That's all.

I have used nvidia cards before moron, I have nothing bad to say about
them in regards to stability and compatability just like I have nothing
bad to say about Ati.
However nvidia drivers for the nforce2 chipset suffered major
complications.

Do try to keep up, nvidiot.

Pacifists such as your self will always sling shit at a person who might
ultimately put you in a position where you're forced to fight for your
country. The motive (self defense, retribution, proactive defense, or
countless other justifiable others) is irrelevant to your kind. Instead,
you'd rather masquerade your lacks of balls, strength, and fortitude with
the excuse of powerful opposition to the principle.... this, all in an
attempt to hide your cowardice.

The liberties you enjoy today were not won by whining, spineless, ectomorphs
such as yourself. I can only pray that your kind never out numbers those who
are willing to fight to keep this country great.

I don't mind fighting when needed. But the way things have been
handled basically increases the chances of future generations of
terrorism. People with power in our country tend to have serious
superiority complexes. I'd be willing to bet our past actions over
the last few decades (if not century) brought us to this in the first
place.

Wrong.
I have not had a problem yet either, both with my 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro.
Can't say the same for the Nvidia card I owned.

Remember: In the USA - it is dangeroud to draw or write about Heir Bush in a negative way. The police or SS are called, people threaten to kill you. (What country is this again?)

- 15yr old boy in Washington was disciplined for drawing such images.
- White House blows cover of an undercover agent because her husband said there were no WMD (before the USA started the war) - her job was finding terrorist. (This makes sense?)

I am telling the truth. The major problems due to ATI drivers are widely
known facts. Grow up and at least admit the truth! I don't care about the
brand-name whether it is ATI or Nvidia. As long as one of those two puts out
a good video card with excellent performance without causing occasional
crash of the operating system, I will get the one that performs in most
satisfactory way. Considering the system crashes due to ATI drivers, ATI
cards are far from being reliable. That's the bottom line. You learn to be
objective. I've used both Nvidia and ATI cards.

That's what I experienced with the ATI card.

After the problems I had in the past, I would not dare to touch any ATI card
with a 10-foot pole especially considering the fact that the latest card
costs around $500.

I believe it when a system crashes because ATI is not capable enough to
prove a better driver for their own video cards.

You can only wish that with ATI. I've used ATI and seen it myself. I am
never going back to ATI crap, ever!

I know what it mean. Just trying to show you how it is done.

LOL YOUR AN IDIOT TROLL BOY

I haven't had ANY operating system lock ups in Windows XP ever since I
installed this Sapphire ATI 9700 Pro. The drivers in the box worked fine
with the BETA copy of Windows XP Pro I had at the time. Every ATI
display driver release so far, that has been installed here on the final
version of Windows XP (with all of the major Windows patches).
Has never crashed due to a video driver error!

The only error I know of is. If you turn on Fast Writes in the BIOS,
there are some issues with some certain games. But they are KNOWN issues
and everyone knows to turn it off, as it does nothing anyway.

So what is the issue troll boy? You just get an nVidia card and just
find out they are shit in image quality against the newer ATI cards and
are just as fast or faster? For crying out loud, grow up. Now look what
your foolishness has accomplished? nothing. You sold your ATI card
because you couldn't figure it out because your obviously too clueless.
So brought a new shiny nvidia card, but are now upset so you have to try
and PROVE YOUR CARD IS GOOD AND WAS WORTH THE PURCHASE.

The problem is you simply can't....
