I want to print Text Only

New here, go easy.

What I am trying to do is set up a template to print the USPS Return
Receipts (Green Cards). I would like to have the image of the card in the
template but not actually print. Here is what I am thinking, I can scan the
image, add it to the document and stretch it to match the paper size. Then
add text boxes for the relevant data. There are a few boxes where I would
rather just click and have an X or check mark as well.

Anybody see any problems with this?
How do I restrict printing of the background image?
Any other pointer would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I am running OfficeXP Pro but I would like to distribute this to others
in an online community.

Don't stretch the image. You'll have to measure EVERYTHING and then make
sure that everything you type in goes where you want it. (Yes, I've done
this in the past and it's a pain in the royal bottom!)

And then after you print it, if you're lucky, everything will be reasonably
close to where it should be.

(Isn't there a .pdf on the USPS site?)

Don't use text boxes, use tables with fixed size cells and add form fields
as appropriate.

This is similar to the problem we face with government departments who issue
forms in PDF format that can't be filled out.

Typically, we scan the form, then insert it as a picture format into a word
document, with the picture set as "Behind Text" layout.

Then, we create a table with fixed cell sizes and no gridlines, and insert
text/form fields as appropriate into those cells.

It can be a little tricky to get everything to sit correctly, but once done
we put it up as a precedent and there are no more problems.

And to print the text only, you just delete the background picture.

Maybe there is an easier solution (ie that does not have such a large file
size), but this one seems to work for us.
