I want the whole screen, even above the top margin.

When I begin a new document, my cursor is right against my ruler, rather than
showing the whole document including above the top margin. I want to see the
whole document to make sure it is balanced. How do I get rid of the cut-off
top margin?

Move your cursor to the very edge of the document. When it changes shape,
click once.
